About the Community

Los Angeles has been the center of Filipino-American civic and cultural life on the mainland for over a century. Historic Filipinotown — officially designated by the City of Los Angeles in 2002 — anchors a community whose roots stretch back to the manong generation of Filipino laborers who arrived in California in the 1920s and 1930s.
