Community Guidelines

Our Mission

FilipinoEventsNearMe.org is a community-powered calendar built to help Filipino-Americans discover cultural events, festivals, and gatherings across all 50 states. We are built on bayanihan — the spirit of collective community. These guidelines exist to keep that spirit alive and ensure the directory remains trustworthy, positive, and genuinely useful.

What Events Qualify

We list events with meaningful Filipino-American cultural relevance. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Filipino cultural festivals and fiestas
  • Community gatherings, reunions, and town fiestas organized by FilAm orgs
  • Filipino food festivals, pop-ups, and culinary events
  • Arts, music, film, and cultural performances celebrating Filipino heritage
  • Religious celebrations (Simbang Gabi, Flores de Mayo, etc.)
  • Professional networking events for the Filipino-American community
  • Sports tournaments and recreational events organized by FilAm groups

Note: General events with no Filipino-American cultural connection will not be approved, even if organized by someone of Filipino descent. The event itself must serve the Filipino-American community.

Event Submission Guidelines

✅ We Welcome:

  • Accurate, complete event details (date, time, location, description)
  • Events open to the public or the Filipino-American community
  • Honest descriptions that help attendees know what to expect
  • Events submitted by authorized organizers or representatives
  • Events from all 50 states and U.S. territories

❌ We Don't Allow:

  • Fake, fabricated, or spam event listings
  • Duplicate submissions for the same event
  • Misleading descriptions (inflated attendance claims, false headliners, etc.)
  • Events that are primarily advertisements or sales pitches
  • Events with no genuine Filipino-American cultural connection
  • Events that promote hate, discrimination, or harm toward any group
  • Pyramid schemes, MLM recruitment events, or fraudulent schemes

Organizer Responsibilities

Organizers who claim listings and manage their events on our platform take on the following responsibilities:

  • Keep details current. Update event listings promptly when dates, times, locations, or other details change.
  • Mark cancellations. If your event is cancelled or postponed, update the listing immediately so community members aren't misled.
  • Be accurate. Do not exaggerate attendance capacity, performer lineups, or event features.
  • Respond to inquiries. If attendees or our team reach out with questions about your event, please respond in a timely manner.
  • One account per organization. Do not create multiple accounts to inflate visibility or circumvent editorial decisions.

Community Conduct Standards

FilipinoEventsNearMe.org is a positive community space. We expect all users — event-goers, organizers, and partners alike — to treat each other with dignity and respect.

We are rooted in bayanihan.

The Filipino value of bayanihan — communal unity and helping one another — is the spirit this platform was built on. We will not tolerate conduct that tears down organizers, discourages participation in our cultural events, or undermines the community we are collectively building.

Reporting & Flagging Issues

See an event that seems fake, misleading, or inappropriate? We want to know. You can:

We review all reports within 48–72 hours. For urgent issues (event safety concerns, active fraud), please email us directly and include “URGENT” in the subject line.

Enforcement

Violations of these guidelines may result in:

  • Removal of the event listing
  • Rejection of future submissions from the same organizer or account
  • Suspension or termination of organizer account access
  • Reporting to relevant authorities in cases of fraud or illegal activity

We will always try to work with organizers in good faith before taking enforcement action. If you believe a decision was made in error, please contact us.

Privacy & Data

  • Organizer email addresses are stored securely and never displayed publicly
  • We will never sell or share your contact information
  • Newsletter subscribers can unsubscribe at any time
