For years, Filipino-American events lived in fragments — scattered across parish websites, Facebook groups, outdated Eventbrite listings, and word of mouth. The community showed up: to fiestas, to Simbang Gabi at 5am, to barrio celebrations, to OPM concerts. But finding those gatherings was always a struggle. You had to know someone who knew someone. You had to be in the right group chat. You had to already belong to find out where to belong.

We built FilipinoFoodNearMe.org because Filipino restaurants and food businesses deserved to be found and celebrated. Food brought us together around the table. But there was something deeper missing — the gatherings themselves. The celebrations. The rituals. The moments that remind you that you are not alone in this country. The feeling of being one of thousands, singing the same songs, eating the same food, under the same flag, in a city that might have forgotten you were there at all.

Food gives you the comfort of familiarity — the taste of home. Events give you something more human: the bond, the camaraderie, the feeling of belonging you get when you are surrounded by fellow Filipinos celebrating the same things in a land you now call home.
