About the Community
Every June 12, Madison Avenue in Midtown Manhattan becomes the stage for the Philippine Independence Day Parade β one of the most visible Filipino-American cultural celebrations on the East Coast. The parade draws marching bands, cultural dancers, consulate officials, and thousands of spectators, making it a proud annual assertion of Filipino-American identity in the heart of New York City. The tri-state area's Filipino community is anchored in Queens, New Jersey, and increasingly in Brooklyn, with a rich network of regional associations, churches, and professional organizations.
